First, I’d like to thank everyone who braved the cold and made it out last Thursday, and even more, all our storytellers for providing the entertainment.

Next month’s event, same bat time (9:30PM), same bat place (Sociedad de Comedia in the basement of Absinth Resto Bar at 1699 Bartolomé Mitre), will happen on Thursday, the 31st of May.

The workshop is slated for the Thursday the 17th. While details are hazy and may be affected by the plans of those who wish to attend, you can still RSVP to me at kate[at]matadornetwork[dot]com. If you haven’t told a story with us before, the workshop is mandatory. Many regular performers choose to attend as well to get a stronger direction on their stories.

Here are the details for our upcoming show:

Theme: I Stand Accused
Place: Sociedad de Comedia, 1699 Bartolomé Mitre in the basement
Time: 9:30PM
Price: $20 pesos

This is just a little reminder that our April event happens this Thursday the 26th. The theme this month is I Can’t Help It, and we’ve got some great stories from Sonya Kunawicz, new storyteller Stephen Phelan, Rosie Hilder, Rick Powell, Catherine Wright, Melanie Henderson, and maybe even Ceri Foster.

Doors open at 9:30 and stories start promptly thereafter, so please try to make it on time if you don’t want to miss anything. We’ll be at Sociedad de Comedia in the basement of Absinth Resto Bar at 1995 Bartolomé Mitre.

To stay in the loop about our upcoming events and workshops, you can subscribe to posts at the bottom of this page, like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @SecondStoryBsAs.

Hey, my little chickadees. Our workshop for the month of April will happen in Once at 7PM this Wednesday the 18th. If you haven’t told a story with us before and wish to, for our event on Thursday the 26th, you are required to attend the workshop.

To get the address, please write to me at kate[at]matadornetwork[dot]com with the subject line “workshop.” To be prepared, please have at least one idea about the story you want to tell. This month’s theme is I Can’t Help It. The theme is only meant to stimulate your thoughts, and it’s not absolutely necessary that the story you want to tell be related to the theme. We enjoy good stories much more than well-categorized ones, in other words.

It’s always nice if you want to bring a refreshment to share with the group. I hope to hear from you soon.

Come get lucky with some books this Friday the 13th at BA Book Lovers’ Night. Hosted as a fundraiser for The Argentina Independent, the night will be full of readings, a book exchange (with free books for the first 50 guests courtesy of Walrus Books), and Second Story Buenos Aires presentation by yours truly, Sonya Kunawicz, and Skye Lucking.

Grab some books to exchange and come on out to hear some stories. There will be readings by contest winners of The Argentina Independent’s latest writing contest in addition to our stories.

Doors open at 9PM, cover is AR $15 in advance and $20 at the door and includes a glass of wine. For more information about the event, which will be held at Casa Dasein (Estado de Israel 4116), check out the event’s Facebook page. Food will be available during the event.

Hi, all. Our next event will take place on Thursday, April 26 at Sociedad de Comedia at Absinth Resto Bar (1695 B. Mitre) at 9:30PM. The theme is I Can’t Help It.

I’m also pleased to announce a new format. From now on, to emphasize the performance aspect Second Story Buenos Aires, it will no longer be possible for storytellers to read stories onstage.

Using notes will still be allowed, as will brief sections of reading for the purpose of accuracy in quotations. Outside that, straight reading will be permitted during Absurdly Out Loud only. In addition, time limits will be implemented a la The Moth.

Thanks for following Second Story, to all our storytellers, and those of you who support our performances. I hope to see you at the end of April!

I’m excited to announce that the renowned magician and storyteller, Norberto Jansenson, will be joining the roster for tomorrow’s show. For a sample of his story stylings (in Spanish) check out his Facebook page. Find him on Twitter: @Jansenson.

There may also be an appearance by Rick Powell, formerly of Juanele AR fame, whose cancer treatment has interfered with his joining us at our shows for far too long.

The event starts at 9:30PM at Sociedad de Comedia in the basement of Absinth Resto Bar at 1995 Bartolomé Mitre.

Hello out there! I’m excited to say that this week’s show is going to be almost circus-like in its variety.

Our event on February 23rd will showcase two new storytellers to add to our growing roster of returning champions, so come out and hear stories of celebrity encounters, flash floods, changing bodies, and terrible sex.

Storytellers from the evening include Beatrice Murch, Mrs.(!) Skye Lucking, Sonya Kunawicz, Jess White, Melanie Henderson, Rosie Hilder, token male Daniel Tunnard, Ana Carolina, and me (Kate Sedgwick).

Cover for the event is $20 pesos, doors open at 8PM and the show starts at 9PM.

Our new spot is at the Sociedad de Comedia in the basement of Absinth Resto Bar at B. Mitre 1695 (at the corner of Rodriguez Peña in Congreso).

You can reserve your spot for Second Story Buenos Aires, GrinGo! (the English language standup show held every Tuesday), and all the other shows put on by the Sociedad de Comedia at the reservations page on Facebook. While the sheet says events are $25, Second Story is still $20 pesos.

Food and drink are available before, during, and after the event.

Have questions? Write to me at kate[at]matadornetwork[dot]com.

Like us on facebook, follow us on Twitter @SecondStoryBsAs or subscribe (at the bottom of the page) to keep up with our events.
